All in all it was quite a weekend. I biked all over town more than once and it was great. Today I went down to the Ukulele Festival. Then it was off for Mexican food. Later I ended up downtown and now home. Today I was good – I didn’t obsessively keep track of the distance. 🙂
I also managed to adjust my derailleur, which is admittedly a small thing, but I’m glad to know I can deal with it now.
That’s actually about it except for thanking the fellow who decided to try to turn left into me on as I was riding legally through an intersection for not actually hitting me. We were both at a red light wiating. When it turned green I moved to go forward through the intersection, he wanted to turn left across my path. [This, btw, on a street designated as a bike path.] Since I was paying attention I could clearly see that he saw me, gauged if he make the left before I could go through, went for it, then had to stop. He actually would have made it as I came to a stop short of his turn radius, but seriously folks, I’m on a bicycle. Once you let me through you can go pretty much as fast as you like (provided you don’t mind speeding tickets and arrests for reckless endangerment) so what’s the f’ing hurry?
It really sounds like a case of doesn’t work and play well with others. Here’s a link to an MSNBC article on rising bike accidents in these days of no gas.
Aloha!
